Subject: California Department of Education Special Education Division “Partnering with Parents Survey” Pilot
The California Department of Education, Special Education Division (CDE/SED) is working with school districts and California Parent Organizations to annually gather information on how well parents think their child’s school is partnering with parents of students with disabilities. Through the use of a survey tool adapted from the National Center for Special Education Accountability Monitoring (NCSEAM), CDE/SED will gain valuable insight from parents on their perceptions related to parent involvement. For more information about the NCSEAM Scales visit their website at http://www.accountabilitydata.org/Family%20involvement.htm.
As a part of a pilot program, selected Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and Parent Organizations are encouraged to distribute the “Partnering with Parents Survey “ to the families they serve.
The English and Spanish surveys are available online for parents/guardians to complete at http://www4.scoe.net/pwps. The survey is also available at this URL to print and distribute in the following languages: English, Spanish, Chinese, Hmong, Russian, Vietnamese, Korean, Tagalog and Arabic.
CDE has contracted with Supporting Early Education Delivery Systems (SEEDS) Project to receive the completed surveys and compile the data. Please mail completed paper surveys to:
